The Galef Institute is a nonprofit educational
organization whose primary goal is to work with educators
— grades pre-K through 12 — in public schools,
schools of education, and school improvement agencies to elevate
student achievement by strengthening teacher quality and instructional
leadership.
Since 1989, when it was founded by Andrew
and Bronya Galef, the Institute has integrated its research
base on student and adult learning, organizational change,
and the role of the arts and culture in education with fifteen
years of field experience. Now, scientifically-based
research demonstrates significant results for students,
schools, and districts contracted with the Institute for services
in four areas:
- Different Ways of Knowing—a design for accelerating
schoolwide achievement
- Education Consulting Services—supporting new schools
and charter schools
- National Institutes—a transformational model for
school change
